While there are many must haves that you will need for your cruise, these are my top 10.
Passport and ID
When cruising you want to be sure and have your passport and government id (drivers license or state id). If you do not have a passport, you can use your birth certificate as long as you are leaving and returning to a port in the US.
Cruise Documents
These documents can include everything from your boarding passes and any excursion reservations, hotel reservation, etc.
Carry-On Bag for Embarkation Day
Depending on when you board your cruise, it could be a while before your luggage is delivered to your stateroom. Your carry-on bag should contain a change of clothes, swim wear, and anything else you may need day 1 (medication, sun screen, etc.).
Port/Excursion Bag
If you are intending on going into port and shopping, take an empty bag with you to put your purchases in. If you are going on an excursion, you may want to include beach towels, sunscreen, and a change of clothes. You will also want to be sure you have your id.
Cell Phone
While I would not suggest making phone calls while on the ship, you can use your phone to take pictures and to use the cruise lines app to keep up with shows and events.
Power-bar (non-surge protected)
Staterooms generally only have 1 outlet and maybe 2 usb ports. It is a good idea to take a non-surge protected multi-outlet.
Hanging Toiletry Bag
This is one of my new must haves. These hanging toiletry bags enable you to save space on the small bathroom. This way you can just pull out what you need when you need it and put it back.
Toiletries
Each cruise line does provide basic toiletries, like shampoo and body soap. The quality of these toiletries varies by cruise line. It is a good idea to bring travel-sized bottles of your preferred toiletries.
Refillable Water Bottle / Cup
Cruise ships have filtered water on board. Bring your refillable bottle or cup and drink all you want.
Lanyard
way to keep up with it. The cruise card is used to unlock your room, pay for things on ship, & show that you are a ship passenger when trying to get back on board in port.
